Water leaks have a habit of showing up uninvited — and sometimes, you need to get creative to catch them in the act.

Our rope access team recently attended One Aldermanbury Square to investigate persistent water ingress issues from the flat roof areas on the 2nd and 4th floors. The brief was clear: lift slabs, inspect, test, and get to the bottom of it — literally.

We began by removing paving slabs from the flat roof to expose the affected sections. Using water dyes (yes, the incredibly bright green stuff), we carried out flow testing to identify any issues with drainage. Spoiler: we found one.

Water wasn’t discharging properly due to a blocked outlet, and the resulting pooling had slowly worked its way into the stone over time. With the slabs removed and the drain exposed, we were able to clear the obstruction and restore proper flow — turning the mystery green puddle back into a functioning drainage point.

In addition, we conducted a full visual and tactile inspection of the front façade using rope access methods. The usual suspects appeared: aged mortar, weathered sealants, and areas of heavy dirt build-up. While individually minor, these defects can become a problem when combined — especially with long-term water exposure.

All works were completed without the need for scaffolding or disruption to building occupants, using rope access to safely reach high-level areas.

Whether it’s a mystery leak or full façade inspection, Peak Access Abseilers London are ready to tackle it — one bucket of glowing green water at a time.
